Upcoming Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 spotted testing in India

The bike looks similar to the SG650 concept showcased at EICMA 2021.

Royal Enfield has been working on a slew of motorcycles in the past few years and the newest test mule to have been spotted testing on our roads is supposedly the Shotgun 650. The spy shot reveals a motorcycle that borrows design cues from the SG650 concept that was showcased at the EICMA 2021.

Close examination of the images reveals a motorcycle with a round headlight, beefy fuel tank and split seats. The curved fenders are reminiscent of the show bike and you will also notice the pod-like tail-light we’ve seen on the Meteor 350. Even the asymmetrical, twin-pod instrument cluster looks similar to the one we’ve seen on the Royal Enfield Meteor 350 and Scram 411.

The chassis is suspended by a USD fork and twin shock absorbers. These appear to be similar to what we’ve seen on Royal Enfield’s upcoming 650cc cruiser, expected to be named the Super Meteor. The bike is seen running on multi-spoke alloys shod with road-biased tyres. Braking duties are taken care of by twin discs. One can also see the Bybre calipers quite clearly.

As for the engine, it appears as the same, parallel-twin unit we’ve seen in the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650. For reference, this engine produces 47hp and 52Nm. The twin exhaust pipes, however, look different.

The test bike barely had any camouflage and looked in near-production form. Royal Enfield is expected to reveal the motorcycle, sometime around the end of this year.
