This 650cc scrambler-esque motorcycle has been spotted testing with a USD fork and wire-spoke wheels.
A new spy shot has emerged of what seems to be an upcoming 650cc scrambler from Royal Enfield. This is at least the third upcoming bike based on the popular 650cc platform that has now been spied testing overseas. This particular test mule seems to sport design elements typical of a scrambler, with a 2-into-1 exhaust setup, wire-spoke wheels and a flat bench-style seat.

The overall silhouette is very reminiscent of a scrambler with the round headlight, large front wheel and dirt tracker style ‘race plate’ side panels. While it shares its basic parallel-twin engine with the other RE 650s, a lot of the mechanical componentry differs substantially. For starters, this is likely to become the first 650cc bike from RE to feature a 2-into-1 exhaust system, with a muffler design that’s quite unique. It also features a USD fork and twin shock absorbers, but they’re missing the piggyback reservoirs found on the 650 twins. The bike spotted here runs on wire-spoke wheels and the front wheel appears to be slightly larger than the rear wheel, most likely running a 19-inch/17-inch front/rear setup.
The tail-lamp and indicators appear to be borrowed from the existing lineup of Royal Enfield bikes, and the fuel tank appears to be borrowed straight off the Interceptor 650. The braking hardware too appears to be taken directly from the existing 650 twins, with a single disc both at the front and rear. The engine found here is the 648cc air-and-oil cooled 270-degree parallel twin, which on the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 makes 47hp and 52 Nm, although it might be tuned slightly differently on this particular bike.

Royal Enfield seems to be gearing up to go all guns blazing at the upcoming EICMA show in November, where it is quite likely it will reveal at least one new model. Considering the fact that this is the first time this particular bike has been spied, it could still be a while before its launch. In the meanwhile, Royal Enfield will most likely launch one of the multiple new models it has been testing.
Test mules of the upcoming Super Meteor 650 and the Shotgun 650 have been testing for quite a while now, and even the new liquid-cooled Himalayan and the revamped Bullet 350 are in the pipeline.
