Upcoming Honda electric bike could be called EM le:

The Japanese giant has at least 10 new electric two-wheelers in the pipeline, and this nametag could find its way onto one of them.

Honda has trademarked a new nametag, for use on electric two-wheelers. The name in question is EM le:, and with at least 10 new electric two-wheelers coming from Honda soon, it’s very likely that this moniker could end up on one of them.

Historically, EM is a name that Honda has used for its portable generators, but this latest trademark filing clearly mentions that the EM le: name is intended for “electric motorcycles, electric two-wheeled motor vehicles and their parts and fittings”. It also goes on to state that it can be used on “motorcycles, two-wheeled motor vehicles and their parts and fittings”, suggesting that it could also end up on a combustion-powered two-wheeler. However, with electric two-wheelers being explicitly mentioned, that seems to be the more likely possibility.

The trademark is valid for the next 10 years, upto September 2032, and is applicable in a number of countries across the globe, including regions like Europe, China, Indonesia, Malaysia and Vietnam, which are emerging as leading electric two-wheeler markets. It will be interesting to see what sort of vehicle this nametag ends up on, if any at all.
