Pictures indicate that this new bike is more street-focused and affordable than the Himalayan.
It’s no secret that Royal Enfield is working on a new Himalayan-based motorcycle, which has been spotted testing multiple times, and it’s quite likely that this bike will carry the Scram nametag, which RE trademarked a while ago.
It has just been spotted testing again, this time in an undisguised form, indicating that an official launch shouldn’t be too far off. These latest images confirm most of what we already know – the new bike will get a smaller front wheel than the Himalayan’s 21-inch unit; probably a 19-incher. This should make it a more light-handling and road-friendly bike than the Himalayan.
It also forgoes the front windscreen and beak, as well as the jerrycan-holders on the fuel tank’s sides and gets conventional tank shrouds instead. The rear luggage rack has been done away with, and the rear indicators have also been moved. All these omissions point towards the fact that this new bike will be slightly more affordable than the Himalayan, which, starting from Rs 2.10 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), has become quite an expensive proposition.
