United Kingdom’s auto industry IT recruitment activity drops 2.8% in May 2022

The UK’s auto industry registered a 2.8% drop in IT hiring activity in May 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring increased by 3.81% in May 2022 when compared with April 2022.

Out of the auto industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 4.21% share in May 2022, recording an increase of 0.26% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in the UK’s auto industry’s IT recruitment activity in May 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 94.74% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s auto industry in May 2022.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 51.58% in May 2022, registering a 4.26% growth over the previous month.

2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 13.68% share, a flat growth over the previous month.

3) Computer and Information Research Scientists held a share of 12.63%, registering a 50% rise from April 2022.

4) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations captured a share of 11.58%, down 38.89% over the previous month.

Top five auto companies in the UK’s IT recruitment activity in May 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 23.73% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s auto industry during May 2022 over April 2022.

Tata Motors posted 34 IT jobs in May 2022 and registered a drop of 10.53% over the previous month, followed by Motorpoint with 22 jobs and a 46.67% growth. BorgWarner with 8 IT jobs and INEOS Automotive with 5 jobs, recorded a 33.33% growth and a flat growth, respectively, while Volta Trucks recorded a flat growth with 4 job postings during May 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in May 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 84.21%, up by 17.65% from April 2022. Mid Level positions with an 8.42% share, registered a decline of 55.56% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 7.37% share, down 12.5% over April 2022.
