UK engine production fell 30.9% year on year in February 2022 to 117,551 units.
Year to date output fell 23.5% to 259,023 engines.
Production for domestic and overseas markets was down 38.5% to 48,642 and 24.3% (68,909) respectively last month.
Mike Hawes, SMMT chief executive, said: “February’s engine production figures further highlight the challenging start to the year for manufacturers.
“With new pressures arising from soaring energy costs, as well as the continued impact of the global semiconductor shortage, the UK’s competitiveness is at risk.”
