Toyota pauses bookings for the Innova Crysta diesel

Dealers say bookings made until early August for the Innova Crysta diesel will be fulfilled.

Toyota has paused bookings for the Innova Crysta diesel variants, and its deliveries may also be affected, our dealer sources tell us. 

 

  • No clarity on whether diesel variant will be back on offer 
  • Next-gen Innova will only be a pertol hybrid

 

According to dealers, the bookings for the Innova Crysta diesel has been halted due to the semiconductor shortage. Suprisingly, this does not affect the Fortuner which has a different diesel engine. Toyota will fulfill all bookings it has received until early August for the diesel variant as per the stipulated time, but any other bookings made this month likely to be dealyed a few months. There’s no clarity whether the diesel variants will be back on offer. 

Later this year, Toyota will introduce the next-generation Innova, which could be called Innova Hycross. Both Innova models will be sold alongside each other, with the new one expected to arrive in the country during the festive season. The Innova Hycross will be based on Toyota’s TNGA-C platform and is expected to get only a petrol hybrid powertrain.

Toyota Innova Crysta: specifications

The Innova Crysta  is powered by a 150hp, 2.4-litre turbocharged diesel engine as well as the 166hp, 2.7-litre petrol engine. Both are mated to a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox and deliver the power through the rear wheels. The Innova Crysta can be had with a seven- or eight-seat layout.
