Toyota Innova Hycross: new VX(O) trim introduced
As you can see from the table above, Toyota has introduced a new VX(O) trim that sits between the VX and ZX trims. Priced at Rs 26.73 – 26.78 lakh, the new VX(O) trim bridges the massive price gap of Rs 4.27 lakh that so long existed between the VX and ZX trims.
Until now, the ZX trim packed in a lot of bells and whistles over and above the VX – panoramic sunroof, powered tail gate, powered, driver’s seat, larger 18-inch wheels, larger 10.1-inch touchscreen, leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, side and curtain airbags – that justified the difference in their prices.
The new VX (O) trim brings some of these features down to a more accessible price point. This includes the panoramic sunroof, the larger touchscreen, LED fog lamps, wireless Apple CarPlay and side and curtain airbags. It’s available in both 7- and 8-seater versions, and solely gets the strong-hybrid powertrain. The ADAS features are still limited to the top-spec ZX(O) trim.
Toyota Innova Hycross: engine, variant line-up
The Innova Hycross is powered by either a 172hp, 2.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine or a 184hp, 2.0-litre strong-hybrid powertrain. Both engines are only offered with an automatic gearbox – there is a CVT gearbox for the naturally aspirated motor, while the strong-hybrid gets an e-Drive transmission. Toyota claims a fuel efficiency figure of 23.24kpl for the hybrid, while the naturally aspirated version gets a claimed fuel efficiency figure of 16.13kpl.
As before, the NA petrol motor is available on the entry-level G and GX trims, and is available in both 7- and 8-seater guises. Meanwhile, the VX, VX(O), ZX and ZX(O) get the strong hybrid powertrain.
