Toyota Innova Crysta: price hike

Starting with price hike, the older variants of the Innova Crysta are now dearer by up to Rs 33,000. The GX variants are up by about Rs 12,000, while the higher VX and ZX trims are dearer by Rs 33,000 for both petrol and diesel variants.

The diesel-only, made-to-order G and G+ too see a bump in prices. The Crysta G diesel and the G+ are now pricier by Rs 24,000 and Rs 12,000, respectively.

There is no change to the engine and gearbox line-up of the Crysta with the 2.7-litre petrol and 2.4-litre diesel carried forward unchanged as are the manual and automatic gearbox options for both units.

There are no changes to the equipment list, either. The base G trim gets basic kit such as steel wheels, manual AC, rear wiper, power windows and central locking along with safety kit such as three airbags, ABS, stability control and hill start assist. The G+ notably gets the addition of alloy wheels, while the GX adds kit such as a touchscreen infotainment system and cruise control (AT only). Higher variants add in bits such as ambient lighting, seven airbags, front and rear parking sensors, rear view camera, auto climate control and more.

Toyota Innova Crysta petrol GX(-): what do we know?

Coming to the new entry-level petrol Innova trim, the new GX(-) costs about Rs 41,000 less than the standard GX variant and is available solely with a manual gearbox. Details on the variant though are still scarce with little known about any changes to equipment over its more expensive counterpart.

Toyota Innova Crysta: prices vs rivals

The new entry-level petrol’s pricing does make the Innova’s starting price more affordable – it’s priced from Rs 16.89 lakh-25.32 lakh – though it still sits in a segment of its own as compared to other traditional MPVs. The petrol-only Maruti Ertiga and XL6 are priced from Rs 7.69 lakh-10.69 lakh and Rs 9.98 lakh-11.86 lakh, respectively.

Meanwhile, the diesel-only Mahindra Marazzo also undercuts the Innova with prices starting from Rs 12.42 lakh and going up till Rs 14.49 lakh. The more premium Kia Carnival is priced from Rs 25.49 lakh-34.49 lakh. The Innova, though, is expected to see some competition from the upcoming new Kia Carens expected to be priced in the region of Rs 12 lakh-20 lakh.
