Toyota Innova Crysta bookings put on hold for now

Toyota wants to clear its order backlog to streamline the demand-supply situation for the Innova Crysta.

A few days ago, we reported that Toyota dealers across the country have stopped accepting bookings for the Innova Crysta diesel. A handful of dealers we spoke to had no clarity on the situation and were just asked to stop accepting bookings for the said variant by the carmaker. Toyota has now conveyed to us that the reason for “temporarily halting” bookings for the Innova Crysta diesel is extremely high demand for the vehicle.

  • Innova Crysta diesel bookings temporary on hold
  • Existing customers are likely to get their vehicles
  • Innova Crysta petrol bookings accepted currently

The Innova Crysta was offered with a 150hp, 2.4-litre diesel engine mated to either a five-speed manual or a six-speed automatic gearbox. The petrol variant comes with a 166hp, 2.7-litre unit paired with a 5-speed manual and 6-speed automatic.

The Innova Hycross, an all-new monocoque MPV that will see a global debut this year, will be an additional model to the Innova Crysta, according to sources. This new MPV will come only with a petrol-hybrid engine option, like the Toyota Hyryder midsize SUV, and not get a diesel engine option.
