Price announcement is expected sometime in early March.

The Dark Editions on Tata’s SUVs have been quite popular with customers, contributing 15-40 percent of sales on model such as the Nexon, Harrier and Safari. And while the facelifted Harrier and Safari already came with the Dark Edition variants at launch, the Nexon didn’t. Our dealer sources have now revealed that Tata Motors will introduce the Nexon Dark Edition sometime around early March. Ahead of its launch, we have details of the trims its going to be offered on.

The Dark Edition treatment will be meted out on six trims of the Nexon – Creative, Creative+, Creative+ S, Fearless, Fearless S and Fearless+ S – meaning it will be available from the mid-spec trim and above.

All said trims are available with the entire powertrain range. So, buyers will have the option of both the 120hp, 1.2-litre turbo petrol mated to either a manual, 6-AMT or a 6-DCT gearbox or the 115hp, 1.5-litre diesel mated to 6-speed MT and AMT gearbox options.

Although Tata hasn’t showcased a Dark Edition of the facelifted ICE-powered Nexon yet, the carmaker did have a Dark Edition version of the Nexon EV at the recently concluded Bharat Mobility Expo. And if that’s anything to go by, the Nexon Dark will get a completely blacked-out exterior finish with black bumpers and grille and darkened roof rails, alloy wheels and even a darkened Tata logo. On the inside, expect a blacked-out dashboard, gloss black centre console, black leatherette upholstery and black roof liner.

Being offered from mid-spec and above, the Nexon Dark will come well-equipped with features like sequential LED daytime running lights, tail-lights, keyless go, automatic climate control, 10.25-inch touchscreen, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, 360-degree camera, sunroof and more.

Such Dark Edition models have become fairly popular in this segment. Models such as the Brezza, Kiger and Magnite have all got black editions before, and the Sonet also gets a unique matte grey finish in the X-Line variant.
