Tata Safari, Harrier facelifts: what to expect
Both SUVs have been spotted undergoing tests across the country many times. The teasers are in line with the spy shots that confirm all new front styling along with some other tweaks. For the refreshed Safar, the front bumper has been reprofiled and the grille seems to be a tad wider than before. Both SUVs retain the split headlamp setup. The upper LED DRL now becomes a full length lightbar that will run across the SUVs width. The headlamp cluster is now positioned vertically and is more sharply designed similar to the recently launched Nexon facelift. The new-look grille seems to get horizontal slats with contrast piano black finish. These styling changes are visible on the Safari facelift teaser, interestingly, the teaser video released for the Harrier does not preview styling updates for the SUV except the horizontally positioned connected lightbar. This could mean that the Harrier facelift could have slightly different nose than the updated Safari.
Both SUVs will not have major styling tweaks in profile except minor cosmetic design updates. The alloy wheel design will be new and so will be new exterior paint shade options. At the back, the taillamp cluster gets a sharper design and is also expected to get a connected light bar on both the Safari and the Harrier facelifts. There will be minor styling changes to the rear bumper and the tailgate as well.
Under the hood, both SUVs get the 2.0-liter diesel engine mated to either a six-speed manual or a six-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox. Both powertrains have been recently updated for BS6 Stage II norms and there aren’t any updates expected on this front with the upcoming facelifts. Tata Motors is working on petrol powertrain as well as EV powertrains for these SUV but those are still some time away.
Tata Motors is known to release multiple teasers previewing changes and feature additions for its new models before the full reveal. Expect more details to trickle out on the Safari and Harrier facelifts in the coming days as a run up to the price announcement which will take place in the coming weeks.
