Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 spotted testing with alloy wheels

The Continental test bike was also spotted with a round LED tail-light.

The Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 has been spotted testing with alloy wheels, indicating that one of the most wished-for updates to the motorcycle could finally be arriving soon.

The upcoming cruiser iterations of Royal Enfield’s 650cc platform have been spotted with alloy wheels numerous times, but this is the first time that one of the existing 650 models has been seen with alloys.

The alloy wheels on the Continental GT test mule appear to be the same size as the current Continental on sale – 18 inches at both ends – and sport a 7-spoke design. The introduction of alloy wheels will also open up the possibility of tubeless tyres, and the CEAT Zoom Cruz tyres that the bike currently comes with, could make way for something else. It’s unclear what tyres this particular test mule is rolling on.

Needless to say, the Continental’s more sensible sibling, the Interceptor 650, is also in-line to receive this same update, and the two bikes should get alloy wheels at around the same time, which is likely to happen in the coming months.

The spy shot also reveals another change that could be coming the Continental’s way soon – a new round tail-lamp. The current motorcycle uses a rectangular unit that’s also shared with the Interceptor 650, but this round design seems to fit the overall aesthetic of the GT better. The indicators, however, continue to be the same rectangular units.
