Renault launches Kiger SUV for India | Automotive Industry News

The Nissan Magnite and Renault’s Kiger are part of the same project. The Magnite was supposed to be launched first (as a Datsun) but it will follow the Kiger into production at the Alliance’s Oragadam plant in Tamil Nadu.

Renault has launched the Kiger, a new compact SUV designed in India and initially intended for that market before being rolled out internationally in a second phase.

It is less than 4m in length (which gives it a tax break) and completes the range in India where Kwid, Duster and Triber are already sold.

The Kiger has an 8-inch (20.3 cm) touch screen compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, with Bluetooth and WiFi connection. Multi-Sense settings allow the driver to choose different driving modes, and there is an available Auditorium 3D Sound by Arkamys audio system plus speed camera warning and a rear view camera.

The locally made Kiger is offered with a one-litre, 100PS turbo petrol engine and either a five speed manual gearbox or optional CVT automatic.
