Renault Kiger RXT(O) price, features explained

Renault has silently introduced a new trim to the Kiger lineup in India. Until now, the Renault Kiger was available in four trims – RXE, RXL, RXT and RXZ. Now, Renault has introduced a new RXT(O) trim with the 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol variants of the Kiger. The new Kiger RXT(O) trim has been priced at Rs 7.37 lakh for the manual version  and Rs 7.87 lakh for the automatic version, both prices ex-showroom, Delhi. Bookings for the Kiger RXT(O) will commence from August 6, 2021.

  • Positioned between RXT and RXZ trims
  • Gets several features from top-spec RXZ trim
  • Dual-tone colour options which cost Rs 20,000 more

Renault Kiger RXT(O): what’s new?

The new RXT(O) trim is based on the mid-spec RXT trim, but gets several features from the top-spec RXZ trim at a more affordable price. While the new RXT(O) trim is Rs 35,000 more expensive than the RXT, it is also Rs 54,000 more affordable than the RXZ trim.

Renault had so far kept a few coveted features reserved only for the top-spec RXZ trim including full-LED headlamps, 16-inch diamond cut alloy wheels, automatic climate control, cooled glove box, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, ambient lighting, Arkayms sound system, drive modes, etc.

The new Kiger RXT(O) sees the addition of the full-LED headlamps, 16-inch alloy wheels, a PM2.5 air filter and wireless smartphone integration over the RXT trim. On the exterior, the RXT(O) now looks identical to the top-spec RXZ trim, which should be a huge pull for buyers. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto additionally add to the convenience factor. Customers can also opt for dual-tone paint options with the Kiger RXT(O) which will cost an additional Rs 20,000.

Renault Kiger: engine and gearbox options

The Kiger comes with a 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that makes 72hp and 96Nm of torque, along with a 1.0-litre, turbo-petrol engine making 100hp and 160Nm. The former is available with either a 5-speed manual and or an AMT gearbox. The Kiger’s turbo-petrol engine can be had with either the 5-speed manual or CVT automatic gearboxes; the torque figure drops to 152Nm when paired to the CVT unit.

Renault Kiger: rivals

Positioned in the compact SUV segment, the Kiger competes with the likes of the Nissan Magnite, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Mahindra XUV300, Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and Toyota Urban Cruiser. Though due to its price, its closest competitor is the Nissan Magnite, as all the other models have a much higher price range.
