Porsche India sold 779 units in 2022; sales, dealerships, price

The Cayenne was the best seller for the brand in 2022.

At the Festival of Dreams event in Mumbai, Porsche announced that 2022 has been the best year in sales. The German manufacturer sold 779 cars and SUVs in the entire year and its EV, the Taycan, accounted for 10 percent of the entire sales.

Porsche sales in 2022

Porsche witnessed a growth of 64 percent year-on-year growth in 2022, with its SUVs – Macan and Cayenne – witnessing a growth of 69 percent year-on-year growth. Out of this, Porsche sold 399 units of the Cayenne last year, becoming the best seller for the brand. In comparison, the Macan was the brand’s best seller in 2021 with 187 units sold, roughly 39 percent of the total sales. 

At the India debut of the 718 Cayman GT4 RS, Manolito Vujicic, brand director for Porsche India said, “in the first full year of sales for the Taycan, we sold 78 units”. This is a significant number for a premium car, let alone an EV, that starts at Rs 1.53 crore (ex-showroom). The Taycan was launched in India in November 2021. 

Furthermore, Porsche now has a total of eight dealerships across the country, with three new dealerships opening in 2022 alone. These dealerships will also offer Porsche’s two programmes – Exclusive Manufaktur and Approved – at all their dealerships across the country. 

Porsche cars on sale in India

Porsche India sells 45 models and variants in India comprising sportscars, sport sedans and SUVs. The 911 models are priced between Rs 1.72 crore-Rs 3.24 crore, while the prices for 718 series ranges between Rs 1.36 crore-Rs 2.54 crore. While the Cayenne starts at Rs 1.26 crore, the Macan starts at Rs 83.21 lakh. Prices for Porsche’s two sedans start at Rs 1.53 crore and Rs 1.58 crore for the Taycan and Panamera, respectively.
