Peugeot has revealed specification details for its full 408 model range as it opened order books for the car newly re-imagined as a fastback crossover for 2023.
Available with a 130PS 1.2-litre Puretech turbocharged petrol engine or a choice of 180PS or 225PS electrified plugin hybrid (PHEV) drivetrains, process for the new addition to the French carmaker’s line-up start at £31,050, with PHEV models starting from £38,400.
The Stellantis-owned brand expects first deliveries to UK customers are expected to commence in Q1 2023.
A zero-emissions, fully elelctric version of the 408 will follow at a later date, but the 180PS PHEV is the cleanest version from launch, claiming CO2 emissions of just 26g/km.
Peugeot’s new C-segment 408 fastback measures 4.69m long, 1.48m tall, has a 2.79m wheelbase and a 536-litre boot, positioning it between the 308 hatchback and 3008 SUV.
News of the availability of the full range of new 408 models this week follows an initial online-only launch of a First Edition version.
The fuil range incorporates Allure, Allure Premium and GT trim levels.
Allure models feature 17-inch alloys, LED headlights, a 180-degree Colour Reversing Camera, rear parking sensors and Peugeot i-Connect Advanced, an infotainment system featuring connected navigation and ‘over the air’ updates.
Allure Premium models (from £31,890, PHEV from £39,270) upgrade to 19-inch alloys, keyless entry, while safety is enhanced with video camera and radar technology added to the standard Allure’s Advanced Emergency Braking to improve safety.
Allure Premium models also offer front parking sensors, rear cross traffic alerts, adaptive cruise control with Stop & Go as well as long range blind spot detection.
Peugeot’s GT trim 408s (£34,650, PHEV from £41,800) add their own 19-inch alloy wheel design, a Peugeot ‘Lion’ shield displayed on the front doors and a front grille is also upgraded with vertical, body coloured, accents.
Inside, GT models add aluminium door and boot sills, Ambient Lighting, a heated leather steering wheel.
Its suite of technology includes the 10-inch instrument display and a Driver Sport Pack, which adjusts the steering, throttle and gearbox modes.
Among the range-topping trim of £45,000 First Edition Peugeot 408s, which are only available with the 225 PHEV drivetrain, are black 20-inch alloy wheels, an upgraded 7.4kW on-board charger, a 10-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat with heating and massage functions.
