Pierer Mobility AG is the parent company of KTM and Husqvarna; now owns 50.1 percent of MV Agusta.

KTM’s parent company – Pierer Mobility AG – has now acquired an additional 25 percent stake in famed Italian bikemaker – MV Agusta – and now has a 50.1 percent stake in the Varese-based brand.

  1. Hubert Trunkenpolz now MV Agusta CEO, replaces Timur Sardarov
  2. Production capacity to increase from 10,000 units currently in Varese
  3. Earlier majority stake acquisition was planned in 2026

MV Agusta now conntrolled by KTM-Husqvarna’s parent company

In November 2022, KTM AG acquired a 25.1 percent stake in MV Agusta, as part of a capital increase. As part of this deal, KTM AG took over the supply chain and purchasing of MV Agusta in October 2023. In addition to that, MV Agusta’s lineup is also distributed via the Pierer Mobility global sales network.

Earlier, KTM AG had the option to acquire an additional 25 percent stake in MV Agusta on the basis of the Italian company’s annual financial statements as of December 31, 2025. Now the Austrian marque has decided to prematurely exercise that and thus, Pierer Mobility AG now owns the controlling stake in MV Agusta. In the ‘medium term’, an annual production capacity of more than 10,000 MV Agusta bikes is planned at the production facility in Varese.

With the early takeover Hubert Trunkenpolz, nephew to Johann Trunkenpolz (the ‘T’ in KTM), is taking over as CEO and Chairman of the board of directors. He takes over from Timur Sardarov, who is now Vice-Chairman, brand ambassador and consultant for MV.
