Mini has taken the covers off the convertible version of its Cooper SE electric hatchback. It is in essence the production version of the one-off electric convertible prototype that debuted last year. Mini has confirmed that the Cooper SE convertible will arrive in European markets in April 2023, although it has not revealed if the model will be introduced globally.

  1. Only available in two colour options
  2. Offers a WLTP-rated range of 201km
  3. Powered by a 184hp electric motor

Mini Cooper SE convertible: exterior, interior design

The limited-run convertible – limited to 999 units in Europe – shares the same design details as the regular Cooper SE hatchback. However, it is only available in Enigmatic Black and White Silver colour options. The electric hatchback’s door handles and the surrounds of the round LED headlamps and Union Jack-themed LED tail-lights have a dark bronze finish. Being a convertible, it gets an electrically powered, Union Jack-embossed cloth soft top that can be operated at speeds of up to 30kph.

Other details include the unique 17-inch wheels that resemble a British plug-socket and 1/999 numbering on the door sills. On the inside, the electric hatchback gets an all-black cabin with leather sports seats. Additionally, it also gets exclusive piano black elements on the dashboard and the yellow engine start/stop toggle switch.

Mini Cooper SE convertible: powertrain

The convertible is powered by the same 184hp electric motor that’s present on its hardtop counterpart. This allows the electric hatchback to accelerate from 0-100 kph in a claimed 8.2 seconds. Mini also claims that the Cooper SE convertible can offer a WLTP-rated range of 201km from its 32.4kWh battery pack.
