MG Hector price, trims and variants, features, new Shine Pro and Select Pro launched

This is the second price revision for the Hector in last six months.

MG Motor India has introduced two new trims to the Hector line-up – Shine Pro and Select Pro – priced from Rs 16 lakh and Rs 17.30 lakh, respectively (ex-showroom, India). However, the bigger news is that the starting price of the Hector sees a reduction of Rs 95,000, and now starts at Rs 13.99 lakh. This is the second price cut the Hector has received in the last six months.

MG Hector Shine Pro: what’s new?

The new second-from-base Shine Pro trim essentially replaces the Shine trim that was available previously, but now gets more equipment. These include LED Daytime Running Lamps, LED projector headlights, sequential LED turn indicators, front and rear fog lights, 17-inch alloys, a 14-inch infotainment screen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, 7-inch digital instrument cluster, a single-pane sunroof, wireless charger, push-button start, a 6-speaker sound system, cruise control, and two airbags.

Notably, prices for Shine Pro petrol variants are more affordable by up to Rs 44,000 than the outgoing Shine petrol variants. Meanwhile, the Shine Pro diesel is more expensive by Rs 20,000 than the Shine diesel. 

MG Hector Select Pro: what’s new?

The new Select Pro trim is positioned above the Shine Pro trim, and it replaces the previously available Smart trim. Over and above what’s available with the Shine Pro, the Select Pro adds larger 18-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic sunroof, interior LED reading lights, connected car features and an 8-speaker sound system with woofer and amplifier.

Prices for the Select Pro petrol variants are higher by up to Rs 25,000 over the outgoing Smart petrol while the diesel variant is more expensive by Rs 20,000.

MG Hector Plus also gets new trims

The new Select Pro trim is also available on the 7-seater Hector Plus where it replaces the Smart trim, and prices are up by Rs 25,000 and Rs 20,000 for the petrol and diesel variants respectively. The Hector Plus Select Pro petrol is priced at Rs 18 lakh while the diesel is priced at Rs 19.60 lakh.

The Hector Plus also gets a new entry-level Style trim that’s available at Rs 17 lakh, and is only available in diesel-manual guise. Its available with both 6- and 7-seater versions, and brings down the price of the diesel variant by a whopping Rs 2.40 lakh.

MG Hector, Hector Plus powertrain options

Both SUVs are powered by either a 143hp, 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine that’s mated to a 6-speed manual or a CVT gearbox, or a 170hp, 2.0-litre diesel engine that only comes with a 6-speed manual.

As for rivals, the MG Hector takes on the likes of the Tata HarrierJeep Compass and 5-seater versions of the Mahindra XUV700, while the Hector Plus rivals the Tata SafariHyundai Alcazar and 7-seater XUV700.
