Mercedes uses Veoneer parts in new EV | Automotive Industry News

EQS is Mercedes’ technology flagship

Veoneer announced it was supplying parts for Daimler’s Mercedes EQS flagship electric sedan.

The Drive pilot system, which allows autonomous driving under certain conditions, uses the supplier’s fourth generation stereo vision camera system with integrated hardware and perception software. The system also uses Veoneer 77GHz radars using super-pulse modulation techniques for enhanced perception, operating at a distance up to 150m with high range resolution and angular accuracy.

The camera system uses convolutional neural network technology for free space and small obstacle detection. The camera processes and classifies 3D objects under a variety of weather conditions.  Veoneer claims 50% more range in the rear corners to detect motorcycles and over 100% more range in the front corners, compared to the predecessor product.
