The seventh-generation SL headed to our shores in 2021, and it technically replaces the S-Class cabriolet, the AMG GT Roadster and the sixth-gen SL in the German brand’s global line-up. It brings back the fabric roof and the 2+2 layout of earlier iterations. It also receives four-wheel drive and four-wheel steering as standard.

India will get the Mercedes-AMG SL55, which brings back the ’55’ name to a Mercedes-AMG model since the G55 SUV ceased production in 2012. It is powered by Mercedes-AMG’s M176 4.0-litre twin-turbo-petrol good for 469hp and 700Nm; this engine is already in use in a number of Mercedes-Benz and Mercedes-AMG models globally. Additionally, it also gets a more potent 577hp engine in the Mercedes-AMG SL63 that is not headed to India.
