The EQE 500 SUV gets a dual-motor set-up with standard all-wheel drive, drawing juice from a 90.6kWh battery that supports up to 170kW of DC fast charging speeds. Its the top-spec model in non-AMG trim, and produces 408hp and 858Nm, and has a range of up to 521km on the WLTP cycle.

In contrast, the recently launched Q8 e-tron 55 churns out 340hp and 664Nm of torque, and also has a bigger 95kWh battery than the EQE 500 SUV’s 90.6 kWh unit. The five-seat SUV is expected to be offered with two dashboard layouts; the ‘Hyperscreen’ layout, which supports up to three individual displays in a single 1,410mm-wide fascia panel, will likely be available as an optional extra, as it is globally. Regular versions will get an S-Class-like layout with a vertical touchscreen flowing down the centre of the dashboard, while the digital instrument cluster is a floating standalone unit.
