Matter Energy, LML Emotion, Benelli, Keeway, Moto Morini present at Auto Expo 2023

This year there will be as many as eighteen two-wheeler brands present at the Auto Expo.

The 2023 Auto Expo marks the return of Asia’s largest motor show after a hiatus of two years. From being underdogs to standing toe-to-toe with ICE OEMs, EVs have come a long way and this year there will be several different EV manufacturers at the show. Also, in attendance will be the entire AARI (Adishwar Auto Ride Pvt. Ltd.) group, consisting of relative newcomers to the Indian ICE marketplace. Let’s take a closer look at the offerings each manufacturer will reveal, or launch, at the show.

EV brands at Auto Expo 2023

1. Matter Energy

Ahmedabad-based Matter Energy will launch its maiden offering at Auto Expo 2023. The Matter Energy e-bike brings in a number of firsts in the electric bike realm, such as a 4-speed gearbox and a liquid-cooled battery pack. The (as yet unnamed) Matter e-bike will be offered in three variants and deliveries are slated to begin in April 2023.

Ultraviolette Automotive is a Bengaluru-based start-up which will showcase its F77 electric bike at Auto Expo 2023. The F77 is currently the most expensive battery-powered two-wheeler on sale in India. The Ultraviolette F77 made its public debut just over a month ago and is offered in two variants – Original and Recon, and both have a claimed IDC range of 207km and 307km, respectively. The former will set you back by Rs 3.80 lakh and the latter commands Rs 4.55 lakh. Additionally, a limited edition variant of the F77 was on offer as well, priced at Rs 5.5 lakh, all 77 units of which are already sold out.

3. Tork Motors

Tork Motors is gearing up to showcase an all-new electric bike at Auto Expo 2023 and it might be a cost-effective model that could serve as the entry point to the brand’s lineup. Alongside it, Tork will also be showcasing the updated Kratos R e-bike, although it will only differ visually not mechanically.

4. LML Emotion

LML is a brand that’ll be making its resurgence in an electric avatar. Following trademark filings of its products, LML unveiled the Star e-scooter and Moonshot e-bike concepts a few months ago. The Star is a maxi-style electric concept and its sporty styling hints that it might be a performance-oriented product. The Moonshot is a quirky-looking thing and has a whiff of supermoto about it but features pedal assistance and a removable battery pack.

Other EV makers of note that will also be present include Okinawa Autotech, Ampere Mobility, Gravton Motors and Jitendra New EV Tech Ltd, among others.

At Auto Expo 2023, European-origin but Chinese-owned brands like Benelli, Keeway and MBP (Moto Bologna Passione) will be in attendance. While Benelli has had a presence in India for a while, Keeway only just entered the market last year. Keeway currently retails seven products in India, including motorcycles and scooters, and it will be launching its eighth product, the SR250, at Auto Expo 2023. Meanwhile, the MBP brand will be making its India debut at the Auto Expo, with its maiden product being a mid-capacity naked bike, the M502N, which will be unveiled at the show.

2. Moto Vault – Zontes, Moto Morini and QJMotor

Moto Vault, which currently retails motorcycles from the Zontes, Moto Morini and QJMotor brands, will be present at Auto Expo 2023. Much like Benelli, Keeway and MBP, Moto Vault falls under the umbrella of Adishwar Auto Ride India Pvt Ltd (AARI). While no new launches have been confirmed, expect Moto Vault to showcase multiple products from all three of its brands at Auto Expo.

Brands not present at Auto Expo 2023

In terms of mainstream EV manufacturers, market leaders like Ola Electric, Ather Energy, TVS (with the iQube) and Bajaj (with the Chetak) will be sitting out Auto Expo 2023.

ICE two-wheeler market leaders like Hero, Honda, Suzuki, Royal Enfield and Yamaha will not be present at the Auto Expo 2023. Following suit will be international brands such as Ducati, Harley-Davidson, BMW Motorrad, Kawasaki and the Piaggio group.
