Maruti Suzuki Invicto price, bookings open, engine, design, rivals

Prices for the Invicto will be announced on July 5.

Maruti Suzuki has opened bookings for the Invicto MPV for a token amount of Rs 25,000. Bookings can be made either on Maruti Suzuki’s website or through the Nexa chain of dealerships. A badge-engineered sibling of the Toyota Innova Hycross, the Invicto will be Maruti Suzuki’s first model that will be priced above the Rs 20 lakh mark in India. Prices for the Maruti Suzuki Invicto MPV will be announced on July 5.

  1. Maruti Suzuki Invicto is based on the Toyota Innova Hycross
  2. Will be first Maruti Suzuki to be offered to be offered solely with automatic gearbox
  3. Invicto will be sold via Nexa dealerships

Maruti Suzuki Invicto exterior and interior

To differentiate it from the Hycross, Maruti Suzuki will give the Invicto a different grille with two chrome slats, with one extending into the headlights. It will also get a slightly reworked bumper, new headlight and tail-light inserts and a unique alloy wheel design.

On the inside, the Invicto will also get minor tweaks to the upholstery as well as changes to the features list. Maruti Suzuki’s MPV might not get a few ADAS elements or might even completely omit the entire package. Furthermore, the Invicto might also miss out on a few features to keep costs in check.

Maruti Suzuki Invicto powertrains

Like the Innova Hycross, the Invicto will also likely be powered by the 183hp, 2.0-litre strong-hybrid powertrain mated to an e-CVT. The entry-level trims are expected to be offered with the 173hp, 2.0-litre petrol engine mated to a CVT. This will make the Invicto the first Maruti Suzuki to be offered solely with an automatic transmission.

Maruti Suzuki Invicto positioning

The Invicto will be produced at Toyota’s Bidadi plant alongside the Hycross, like how Toyota produces the Grand Vitara and Hyryder simultaneously. As Maruti Suzuki will have to pay royalty to Toyota for using the latter’s TNGA-C platform and the strong-hybrid powertrain, the Invicto will carry a premium compared to the equivalent Hycross variant.

For reference, prices for the Hycross’ petrol variants range between Rs 18.55 lakh-19.45 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai). Prices for the Hycross hybrid range between Rs 25.03 lakh to Rs 29.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai).

Maruti Suzuki Invicto rivals

The Maruti Suzuki Invicto will sit in the premium MPV segment and rival its Toyota sibling, the Innova Hycross. It will also rival the Kia Carnival, but it is priced slightly higher (Rs 30.99 lakh-35.49 lakh).
