Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara SUV exports commence

With this, Maruti Suzuki now exports 17 models to overseas markets.

Maruti Suzuki India has begun overseas shipment of its recently launched Grand Vitara. The first batch of Grand Vitaras sailed to Latin America from the Kamarajar Port (erstwhile Ennore Port) recently. The company says it plans to export its flagship SUV to over 60 countries across Latin America, Africa, the Middle East, ASEAN and neighbouring regions.

The Grand Vitara has become the company’s 17th export model. The Maruti Suzuki models with the highest export demand are the Dzire sedan, the Swift, S-Presso and Baleno hatchbacks and the Brezza SUV.

In a statement, Hisashi Takeuchi, managing director and CEO, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said, “Supporting the government of India’s efforts to increase exports from India, Maruti Suzuki has taken multiple initiatives to increase its international presence. Expanding the product portfolio for exports has been one of the key pillars of success.”

Maruti Suzuki to be No. 1 car exporter in FY2023

Maruti Suzuki India became the export market leader in FY2022 with shipments of 2,35,670 units, wresting the crown from Hyundai Motor India, which shipped 1,29,260 units in the same period. Maruti is well placed to retain the passenger vehicle export crown in FY2023.

As per the latest industry export numbers released by apex body SIAM, Maruti Suzuki has shipped a total of 1,92,071 units between April and December 2022. That’s a year-on-year growth of 14 percent as the same period last year saw shipments of 1,67,964 units. These comprise 1,54,947 cars, 36,911 utility vehicles and 213 vans.

Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara: price in India

The Grand Vitara was launched on September 26, priced between Rs 10.45 lakh-Rs 19.49 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Maruti Suzuki also launched a CNG-powered version of the Grand Vitara that is priced between Rs 12.85 lakh-Rs 14.84 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and is only available in two trims – Delta and Zeta.
