The recall affects units manufactured between December 8, 2022 and January 12, 2023.
Maruti Suzuki has issued a recall of over 17,000 vehicles manufactured between December 8, 2022 and January 12, 2023. The recall is regarding a faulty airbag controller placed in Alto K10, S Presso, Eeco, Brezza, Baleno and Grand Vitara.
In a regulatory filing with BSE, Maruti Suzuki will recalled 17,362 units of its affected cars and SUVs to inspect and replace the airbag control unit as it suspects it may lead to non-deployment of the airbags and seat belt pretensioners, in case of an accident. Maruti Suzuki says it will replace the faulty parts in affected vehicles, free of cost. The brand also cautioned its users to not use or drive their vehicles until they are inspected by the workshops, who will contact the affected customers directly.
Recent Maruti Suzuki recalls
This is not the first time seat belt assembly modules have been affected in Maruti Suzuki cars. Just last month, the brand recalled over 9,000 units of Grand Vitara, XL6, Ertiga and Ciaz due to a possible defect in one of the child parts of the shoulder height adjuster assembly of the front seat belts.
Furthermore, in October, Maruti Suzuki recalled more than 9,000 units of the Wagon R, Ignis and Celerio to rectify a defect in the rear brake assembly pins.
