The Ertiga facelift is one of many updated models Maruti is readying for 2022 including the Baleno, Brezza, XL6 and more.
Maruti Suzuki is readying a slew of updated models for a launch in 2022 and that includes a mid-cycle facelift for the Ertiga MPV as well. A test mule of the 2022 Maruti Suzuki Ertiga facelift has now been spotted for the first time with barely any camouflage. Like most Maruti facelifts, updates on the new Ertiga will be very minimal. We recently also reported to you with spy images of the Maruti XL6 facelift – a more premium derivative of the Ertiga – and that seemed to boast of more comprehensive updates.
- Styling updates will likely just be limited to an updated grille
- Expect minor updates on the interior as well
- Ertiga facelift will remain mechanically unchanged
Maruti Suzuki Ertiga facelift: exterior updates
The only elements that’s camouflaged on this test mule is the area around the grille, and that will likely be all the cosmetic update the Ertiga facelift receives. A closer look at the grille suggests that it will have some resemblance with the Maruti Baleno facelift as both models seem to have a similar pattern for the grille. The rest of the MPV, as can clearly be seen in these images, remains largely unchanged. The headlamps, tail lamps, front and rear bumpers and even the alloy wheels will be carried forward as it is.
Interestingly, the test mule of the XL6 facelift that was also spotted recently came wearing much heavier camouflage. The updated XL6 will likely get a more comprehensive makeover with a new design for the grille, front bumper and alloy wheels.
Maruti Suzuki Ertiga facelift: interior updates
These images do not give us a glimpse of the interior of the Ertiga facelift, although we do not expect any significant changes on that front. Updates could be limited to just new colours for the upholstery, new interior trims and a few additions to the equipment list. It will continue to be offered with a seven-seater configuration, although as per sources, the updated XL6 could be offered in both six- and seven-seater configurations.
Maruti Suzuki Ertiga facelift: engine details
The Ertiga facelift is expected to remain mechanically unchanged. That means it could carry forward the tried and tested 1.5-litre petrol engine with mild-hybrid tech from the current model. This engine produces 105hp and 138Nm of peak torque. Transmission choices will also likely remain unchanged from the current 5-speed manual and 4-speed torque converter automatic units.
The petrol-only Maruti Ertiga does not have any direct rival in the market, although it sees competition from the diesel-powered Mahindra Marazzo in this segment.
Upcoming Maruti Suzuki launches
Maruti is also readying a heavily updated Baleno hatchback, as well as a major update for the Vitara Brezza. Also, apart from the aforementioned XL6 facelift, Maruti is readying an all-new generation of the Alto hatchback. Moreover, Maruti has an extensive line-up of SUVs lined up for launch in India over the next three years.
