Maruti Invicto will sit above the Grand Vitara; will be sold via Nexa outlets.
Maruti will introduce an all-new MPV on July 5 and we can confirm that the model will be called Maruti Invicto upon launch. This new MPV, as reported by us earlier, will be based on the Toyota Innova Hycross and will be manufactured and supplied by Toyota and will sit at the top of Maruti’s line-up in our market.
- Invicto will be the first automatic-only Maruti
- Will come with multiple seating options
- Will be a tech-laden, low volume product
Maruti Invicto MPV: What all is known
In order to differentiate it from the Toyota Innova Hycross, the Maruti Invicto gets brand-specific styling tweaks that includes a new front bumper and grille, headlamp and taillamp inserts and alloy wheel designs. On the inside, expect minor tweaks to the upholstery shades and feature lists.
Maruti has said earlier that the Invicto will be a low volume product for the brand essentially showcasing “carbon friendly hybrid tech”. Also going by the long waiting for the Innova Hycross, it will be interesting to see how Toyota allocates units for Maruti as both the Innova Hycross and the Maruti Invicto will be built on the same manufacturing line. Toyota however has recently added a third shift at its facility in order to clear towering order backlog.
Maruti premium MPV: powertrain, fuel efficiency
Expect Maruti Suzuki to retail the Invicto with the same powertrain options as on the Hycross. Higher variants will of course get the full hybrid powertrain which will promise Innova Hycross levels of fuel economy numbers of around 23kpl. However, this MPV will still not have the crown of being the most fuel efficient Maruti model as the Grand Vitara Hybrid at 27.97kpl will still continue with that title.
