Mahindra XUV700 AX5 Select: what’s new?

Over the lower AX3 variant which is only available with a five-seat layout, the XUV700 AX5 Select gets a seven-seat configuration, while also adding features like a panoramic sunroof, push-button start/stop and map lamps for the second row. Earlier this month, Mahindra had also introduced a seven-seat setup for the entry-level MX3 variant, lowering the starting price point of the SUV’s three-row version.

The AX5 Select is available with both petrol and diesel engine options, with a choice between manual and automatic gearboxes. The Mahindra XUV700 AX5 Select petrol MT is priced at Rs 16.89 lakh, while AX5 Select diesel costs Rs 17.49 lakh. The automatic variants are priced at an additional cost of Rs 1.6 lakh. This makes it Rs 50,000 costlier than the AX3 trim.

Mahindra XUV700: powertrains

The XUV700 can be had with either a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 200hp and 380Nm of torque, or a 2.2-litre turbo-diesel engine which is offered in two states of tune: 155hp and 360Nm in the entry-level variants, and 185hp and 420Nm (450Nm with AT) on the higher-spec variants. Both engines are available with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox, while the diesel also gets an all-wheel drive option.

Mahindra XUV700: price and rivals

The Mahindra XUV700 continues to be priced from Rs 13.99 lakh to Rs 26.99 lakh (ex-showroom), and goes up against Tata Harrier/Safari, MG Hector/Hector Plus, Hyundai Alcazar, and Jeep Compass.
