Lexus enters Motability scheme with aim to grow sales to disabled people

Premium brand Lexus has joined the UK’s Motability Scheme and is offering its self-charging hybrid UX 250h F Sport Design initially to scheme members, who receive a mobility allowance through the Department of Work and Pensions to help them with disabilities and mobility issues.

In future Lexus aims to make further models available on the Motability Scheme, which enables people who receive a mobility allowance to use that money to help pay for the three-year lease of a brand new vehicle, which includes insurance, servicing, maintenance, wear-and-tear repairs, breakdown cover, windscreen repairs and tyre repair and replacement all covered.

Lexus said the UX 250h F Sport Design falls within the price parameters for the Motability Scheme, and has Lexus’s latest multimedia system with 12-inch display and “Hey Lexus” onboard assistant, easy smartphone integration with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, heated front seats, dual-zone automatic air conditioning with Lexus’ Nanoe-X air quality system, reversing camera, automatic wipers, LED headlights with Automatic High Beam, plus the Lexus Safety System+ suite of active safety and driver assistance features.

It has a CVT automatic transmission.

Customers choosing this Lexus must pay an advance payment of £3,995, and monthly payments thereafter consist of their total mobility allowance.

Chris Hayes, director of Lexus in the UK, said: “The Motability Scheme provides a valuable service, helping thousands of people to access a new vehicle and help maintain their mobility independence.

“We are confident our new UX 250h F Sport Design will be an attractive proposition for those looking for a premium electrified model, supported by Lexus’s exceptional reliability and industry-leading customer service.”

Lexus’s parent brand Toyota is already on the Motability Scheme, and currently offers models ranging from the Toyota Aygo X, which requires zero advance payment, to the Toyota C-HR
