The KTM 390 Adventure X is devoid of electronics such as traction control, quickshifter and cornering ABS.
KTM has launched a new, low cost variant of the 390 Adventure at an introductory price of Rs 2.8 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). That makes this variant significantly cheaper than the current KTM 390 Adventure that’s priced at Rs 3.38 lakh. The intent behind launching the KTM 390 Adventure X is to make the bike accessible to a wider audience.
KTM 390 Adventure X: details
In order to price the 390 Adventure at Rs 2.8 lakh, KTM has omitted a host of electronics from the bike. This means KTM 390 Adventure X doesn’t get traction control, quickshifter and cornering ABS. However, KTM has retained the dual-channel ABS setup with the provision to switch off ABS at the rear wheel, helping one slide the bike while riding off-road.
As for whether the Bluetooth connectivity equipped colour-TFT display has been included or replaced with the KTM 250 Adventure’s simpler LCD display remains to be confirmed and we shall update this story as and when we get the confirmation from KTM.
Besides the omission of a host of electronics, the 390 Adventure X is identical to the existing bike, be it the all-LED lights, bodywork and the engine, suspension, etc.The colour options include Orange and Dark Galvano.
KTM 390 Adventure X: competiton
With the starting price of the KTM 390 Adventure now sitting well below the Rs 3 lakh, it makes for great VFM for those who want a powerful (43.5hp/ 37Nm) adventure motorcycle sans a bunch of frills. To put things in perspective, the 390 Adventure X costs only Rs 36,000 more than the KTM 250 Adventure. On the other hand, when you consider the price of the Royal Enfield Himalayan (Rs 2.15 lakh) the stretch to the KTM 390 Adventure X is Rs 65,000. While the gap is big, the KTM does offer a more modern and powerful engine that’ll easily sit at higher highway speeds than the RE.
