KTM 390 Adventure V, 250 Adventure price, lower seat height, suspension, India launch soon

A wire-spoke wheel equipped variant of the 390 Adventure is also expected soon.

One of the biggest deterrents that some prospective customers of the KTM 390 Adventure and 250 Adventure face is the 855mm seat height. It’s quite tall for people of average height and some have to resort to tip toeing, which isn’t exactly confidence inspiring, especially on loose surfaces. KTM has a solution in the form of a new low seat height variant that is expected to go on sale soon.

  1. New low seat height variant
  2. Lowered suspension at both ends
  3. Expected to be priced at par with current 390/250 ADV

KTM 390 Adventure and 250 Adventure low seat-height variant: details

KTM has been working on developing a low seat height variant of the 390 Adventure and 250 Adventure for some time. In fact, they had installed lower rear suspension units on a few customer bikes to test them out and gather feedback. Recently, an avid Autocar India reader spotted the bike at KTM Andheri, Mumbai; which appears to be one of the first showrooms to have received the bike.

However, we’ve now learnt that unlike the lowered monoshock height bikes that were earlier being tested, the production versions will have lower suspension at both ends. The travel and spring rates will be different from the standard bike and we are told that ground clearance hasn’t been affected much.

Our sources say that the seat height, as a result of the lower suspension, has reduced and it has made the 390/250 ADV more accessible. However, we are yet to know the exact height and specifications of the lowered variant and we shall update this story as and when we get information about the same.

Besdies the low seat height variant, KTM is also preparing to launch the 390 Adventure in a new wire-spoke wheel equipped version. The said bike was showcased in international markets recently and it answers the prayers of those who wanted a more off-road capable KTM 390 Adventure. This variant of the bike also comes with adjustable suspension in international markets, however, it is too early to say that KTM will offer the same in India as well.
