The Sonet X Line gets cosmetic tweaks similar to Seltos X line that went on sale a year ago.
Just as the Sonet is about to complete two years in the Indian market, Kia India is gearing up to launch the special-edition Sonet X Line, teased by the carmaker a few days ago. We now have details from our dealer sources about the exterior and interior updates on the upcoming model. The Kia Sonet X Line will follow a similar approach as the Seltos X Line launched a year ago.
- Sonet X Line to be based on top-spec trim
- Will likely be offered with 1.0 turbo petrol, 1.5 diesel engines
- Updates to be purely cosmetic, no new equipment
Kia Sonet X Line: exterior and interior updates
Similar to the Seltos X Line, the biggest distinguishing factor of the Sonet X Line will be its matte graphite (grey) exterior paint shade. Additionally, the grille will be finished in gloss black with a knurled pattern, while the front and rear skid plates will also have a piano black finish with dark metal accents.
The gloss black theme will further continue on the fog lamp garnishes, as well as the outside wing mirrors. Meanwhile, the doors will also get dark metal accents. The other big exterior update will be a new design for the 16-inch alloy wheels finished in a gloss black, while the brake calipers will be finished in silver; they are otherwise finished in red on the standard GT models.
On the inside, the Sonet X Line will come with a new dual-tone colour scheme and a new black headliner. Additionally, the leatherette upholstery will have new orange contrast stitching and X Line logos. Like the Seltos X Line, the Sonet X Line will be based on the top-spec GTX+ trim, and will, therefore, come with all the bells and whistles the Sonet has to offer.
Kia Sonet X Line: engine options
The GTX+ trim comes with the options of the 120hp, 1.0-litre turbo-petrol and the 100hp, 1.5-litre diesel engine (115hp in automatic guise). Both these engines are expected to be offered on the Sonet X Line as well. Gearbox options are also expected to be carried over – iMT and DCT for the petrol, and manual and torque converter automatic for the diesel.
The Kia Sonet rivals the likes of the Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Toyota Urban Cruiser, Mahindra XUV300, Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger and the Tata Nexon,
