Updated Kia Seltos for 2021: what to expect?
The Seltos has been a popular SUV in the Indian market since its launch and has helped the Korean brand gain a strong foothold here. While the features list of the Kia Seltos has been quite extensive since the beginning, a much sought-after feature – a panoramic sunroof – has been missing on the SUV; this lack was further underlined after its arch rival, the second-gen Hyundai Creta, arrived in March 2020 with one. Interestingly, the Seltos sold in China already comes with a panoramic sunroof for more than a year and now, the made-in-India Seltos will come with this feature too.
While there could be more feature additions or deletions in some variants, what we can also confirm is that the Seltos will be the first Kia product in India to get the brand’s new logo that made its debut recently. We had reported earlier that the logo would first appear on the Seltos midsize SUV and Kia Sonet compact SUV.
There are no mechanical updates expected on the 2021 Seltos, which means the SUV will continue to be sold with a 115hp, 1.5-litre diesel engine;a 140hp, 1.4-litre turbo-petrol unit; and a 115hp, 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol motorin India.
Updated Kia Seltos for 2021: rivals in India
The updated Seltos will continue to rival midsize SUVs like the Creta and the Nissan Kicks, for now. However, in the coming months, two new SUVs, in the form of the Skoda Kushaq and the Volkswagen Taigun, will enter this hotly contested segment. It is important to note that both these new SUVs will not come with a panoramic sunroof initially and will be sold with petrol engines only.
