Kia reveals more details on 372-mile range EV3

Kia has revealed more details about its new EV3 compact electric SUV, which is expected to be its lead volume model for electric sales when it goes on sale in the UK this autumn.

The new model joins the existing EV6 and EV9 models as an electric-only model based on a bespoke platform.

It’s one of 15 new models Kia plans to launch by 2027.

Two versions will be available. The EV3 Standard model will be offered with a 58.3kWh battery, while the EV3 Long Range variant will use an 81.4kWh battery.

The Long Range variant achieves a WLTP range of 372 miles. Both battery options are paired with a single 204PS electric motor.

The EV3 measures 4,300mm long, 1,850mm wide, 1,560mm high, making it similar in size to a VW ID3.

With a 25-litre frunk and a 460-litre rear load capacity, Kia claims that the EV3 offers the largest luggage space in its class.

The interior design takes inspiration from Kia’s existing EV6 and EV9 models, with a minimalist yet premium approach.

There’s a pair of large screens at the top of the dash, providing infotainment and instruments, plus a touch panel for the climate controls.

Many of the EV3’s functions, including drive mode, cruise control, entertainment, and navigation, can be accessed and controlled by a simple touch of the steering wheel buttons.

The EV3 is the first model to benefit from Kia’s new i-Pedal 3.0 regenerative braking technology, which allows the driver to adjust the level of regenerative braking according to their preference, enabling one-pedal driving. This maximises energy efficiency and noticeably reduces fatigue on long drives, enabling the vehicle to travel further on a single charge and making the journey more engaging, enjoyable, and comfortable.

Further details, including UK pricing and specification, will be released in due course, but Kia is expected to keenly price the EV3 with a target of under £30,000.
