The Hyundai Ioniq 5 N has bagged the World Performance Car of the year award.
The World Car of the year 2024 winners have been announced and it’s the EV9, Kia’s flagship SUV that has bagged not one but two big titles. The EV9 is this year’s World Car of the year as well as the World Electric Vehicle of the year 2024.
The World Car of the year title is selected by a jury of 100 distinguished automotive journalists representing 29 countries which includes Hormazd Sorabjee, editor, Autocar India, and Renuka Kirpalani, consulting video editor, Autocar India.
In the overall World Car of the Year category, the EV9 was chosen from an initial entry list of 38 vehicles from all over the world, then a shortlist of three finalists – the BYD Seal, the Kia EV9 and the Volvo EX30. The World Car Awards recognised the Kia EV9’s innovative design, spacious seven-seat interior, and competitive price point.
Apart from the Kia EV9, sister brand Hyundai’s Ioniq 5 N bagged the World Performance Car of the year award.
The new BMW i5 / 5-Series beat the Mercedes E-Class and EQE SUV to be named World Luxury Car. All three models, the Kia EV9, the BMW i5/5-series and the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class are slated to go on sale in India this year.
