Kia Carens price; Carens recall; faulty instrument cluster

Kia will inspect 30,297 units built between September 2022 and February 2023 to fix the issue via software update.

Kia India has issued voluntary recall for the Carens MPV.  The recall has been announced to fix a potential issue with the MPV’s digital instrument cluster via a software update.  The said software update will be carried out only on the affected units.  The company has announced that over 30,297 units of Kia Carens MPV built will be inspected.

Kia Carens recall:  faulty instrument cluster units to be fixed

The recall has been issued to fix the problem on Carens MPV units with the instrument cluster not booting properly and thus going blank.  Customers of Caren’s MPV units produced between September 2022 to March 2023 will be contacted and will be asked to come to the service center for an inspection and a software update if required.

Kia recalls in the past

Kia has had two recalls in October 2019 and March 2020 for the Kia Seltos diesel for a fuel pump issue. For the Carens this is the second recall and the first recall in October 2022 was regarding an airbag control unit which also was fixed with a software update.

The Kia Carens is priced at 10.45 lakh (ex-showroom) for the base variant 1.5 litre petrol manual and the fully loaded turbo diesel and turbo petrol variants costing 18.90 lakh (ex-showroom). The MPV has either six or seven-seater seating configuration and has a waiting period of around 10 months, depending on the trim.
