Jeep Compass diesel 2WD automatic pricing, variants

Jeep offers the updated Compass in five trims – Sport, Longitude, Longitude+, Limited, and Model S. The Jeep Compass Sport trim continues to be the entry-spec model; offered only with the diesel-manual powertrain, and with a  price of Rs 20.49 lakh, the manual variants see a drop in price. Next, a new Compass Longitude trim joins the line-up with a 2WD manual, along with a 9-speed automatic gearbox, making this the new entry-point to the Compass automatic range. Prices for the Compass Longitidue are Rs 23.99 lakh and the automatic diesel powertrain has a fuel efficiency figure of 16.2kpl.

The updated Compass Longitude+ trim comes equipped with a panoramic sunroof and a wireless charger, in addition to all the features available on the Longitude trim. Up next is the Jeep Compass Limited which comes with a new Black Shark edition with an all-black interior, black alloy wheels and ‘Ignite Red’ highlights throughout the SUV.

Completing the Compass line-up is the Model S, which continues to be the top-spec trim and now comes with a new 2WD automatic form, alongside the existing 4WD automatic variants. Additionally, all trims feature a refreshed design for the alloy wheels, while the new chrome grille is available only on the Limited and Model S trims.

Jeep also unveiled the Meridian Overland Edition, which gets a new grille and alloy wheel design as well as an interior copper-based colour theme.

Jeep Compass diesel engine and gearbox

The Jeep Compass with the automatic gearbox was previously limited to just the 4×4 variants. With this launch, Jeep aims to target customers looking for the convenience of an automatic gearbox, but not wanting the 4×4 hardware.

Powering the Compass is a 2.0-litre Turbocharged engine that makes 170hp and 350Nm of torque. Jeep currently offers the Compass range in India with only the diesel option as the American marque shelved the 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine due to BS6 Stage II emissions norms. However, as we’ve reported before, the petrol variants are slated to make a comeback sometime in the near future.
