Top-spec V-Cross Z Prestige variant gets exterior and interior updates; all D-Max passenger models get more safety kit.
Isuzu has updated the D-Max range in India with new safety features. The Japanese brand has also introduced an updated version of the top-spec V-Cross Z Prestige variant with a few exterior and interior changes. Prices for the updated D-Max lineup for private buyers starts at Rs 21.20 lakh for the Hi-Lander; the V-Cross Z trim is priced from Rs 25.52 lakh, while prices for the top-spec V-Cross Z Prestige start at Rs 26.92 lakh*.
- V Cross Z Prestige gets chrome elements replaced by dark grey bits
- Rear seats on all variants said to offer greater comfort for passengers
- D Max manual models get traction control, ESC and hill assist standard
On the outside, the new D-Max V-Cross Z Prestige switches out all the chrome trimmings with a dark grey one. This can be seen on the front and rear bumper, the fog lamp clusters, grille, ORVMs and roof rails. The most obvious visual change is the new blacked-out 18-inch alloy wheels.
The cabin of the refreshed pickup range – which includes the Hi-Lander, V-Cross Z and V-Cross Z Prestige trims – isn’t all that different, but Isuzu says the rear bench seat is new, and provides greater comfort for passengers due to its “higher degree of inclination”. Isuzu has also added some active safety systems to the D Max range with the manual gearbox – traction control, ESC and hill-start and hill-descent assist – come standard. In addition, the pickup truck now features three-point seatbelts for all five occupants, and seatbelt reminders and warnings for all seats.
Mechanically, there are no changes. The V Cross variants are powered by a 163hp, 1.9-litre diesel engine, which comes with 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearbox options. A shift-on-the-fly 4WD system is available with both variants, though in the lower-spec Z trim, it’s only offered with the manual gearbox. Meanwhile, the D-Max Hi-Lander uses the same engine, but is only available in manual form with a 2WD setup.
The closest rival to the Isuzu D-Max is the Toyota Hilux, which retails in three variants and is priced between Rs 30.40 lakh-37.90 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
