Hyundai Tucson price, Tuscon facelift, new design and India launch details

Facelifted SUV is expected to launch in India next year soon after its global debut.

It’s just been a little over a year since Hyundai launched the third-gen Tucson in India, despite it being on sale overseas since 2020. Therefore, it’s due to receive a mid-lifecycle facelift, which is set to debut in the coming months. The carmaker has also been testing the Tucson overseas for a while now, and we have the first undisguised image of the facelift.

  1. Tucson facelift only gets minor cosmetic updates
  2. Likely to remain mechanically unchanged
  3. Will come to India sometime next year

Hyundai Tucson facelift: what’s new?

Unlike most Hyundai facelifts, updates to the Tucson are rather minimal. It gets a new design for the grille that’s slightly sharper than before and has new internals. The LED daytime running lamp that comes integrated within the grille appear to have been revised, but the main headlamp unit on the bumper remains unchanged. The central air intake on the bumper has also been slightly revised.

There’s absolutely no change to the profile of the Tucson, although it does get a new set of alloy wheels. And while there are no pictures of the rear, we do not expect any major changes except for a slightly revised bumper and tail-lamps. We also haven’t had a look at the interior yet, so it remains to be seen if the updates are comprehensive or not.

Hyundai Tucson facelift powertrain options

While the Tucson is available with a range of powertrain options overseas, including petrol, diesel, mild-hybrid and even plug-in hybrid, the India-spec model is likely to remain unchanged under the hood. That means it will continue with the existing 156hp, 2.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol and 186hp, 2.0-litre diesel engine mated to 6-speed and 8-speed automatic gearboxes, respectively. The latter also gets an optional AWD system.

The facelifted Tucson is expected to arrive in India next year soon after its global debut, and will likely not be as delayed as the third-gen model. Upon launch, it will continue to rival the likes of the Citroen C5 Aircross, Jeep Compass and Volkswagen Tiguan.
