Hyundai Exter price, interior details, features list, launch date and more

Exter deliveries to start by mid-July; will be sold with petrol and CNG powertrain options.

Hyundai has officially released first set of interior pictures of the upcoming Exter micro SUV ahead of its launch on July 10. While the interior of the Exter was partially seen already, thanks to leaked images online, these fresh set of images give a detailed look at how the micro-SUV will look from the inside.

  1. Exterior dashbaord design shared with Grand i10 Nios, Aura
  2. Gets an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system
  3. Will rival the likes of Citroen C3, Tata Punch

Hyundai Exter interior details

The Exter’s dashboard design and steering wheel is quite similar to the Grand i10 Nios and Aura, however, there are quite a few unique elements. First up, the interior gets all-black colour scheme instead of the grey/black interior seen on the Nios or the bronze/black interior of the Aura. The Exter also gets a full-digital instrument cluster with a 4.2-inch MID, similar to the more expensive Hyundai’s like the i20 and the Verna.

Higher variants will get an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment similar to its siblings. The patterned-effect on the dashboard and around the gear lever has also been carried over. Uniquely, there are subtle bronze highlights around the AC vents and on the semi-leatherette seat upholstery. The Exter gets three point seat belts for all three rear seat passengers and also dedicated AC vents for the second row.

Hyundai has also announced that the Exter will get connected car tech as well with voice activated commands in multiple languages including over the air updates (OTA) for the infotainment system and maps. Higher variants will get automatic climate control, Apple carPlay, Android Auto, in-built navigation and a sunroof, among other features.

Hyundai Exter powertrains

The tried and tested 83hp, 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that also sees duty on the Venue, Nios and Aura will be powering the Exter.  There will be a factory fitted CNG option too. With the petrol engine, a 5-speed manual or an AMT automatic transmission can be selected while the CNG only gets a manual gearbox.

Hyundai Exter bookings and rivals

Deliveries for the Exter are likely to commence by mid-July. Bookings are currently underway for Rs 11,000. Upon launch, the Exter will be positioned against the likes of the Tata PunchCitroen C3 and the Maruti Ignis.
