Hyundai Creta price, Creta EV India launch details, design and features

Hyundai is all set to expand the Creta SUV line-up next year. Along with the much-awaited Creta facelift, the Korean brand is also readying the Creta EV to take on the Maruti eVX. While the Creta facelift for India will see a debut early next year, the Creta EV will be revealed sometime in late 2024, with a price announcement expected in 2025. Fresh spy shots from South Korea reveal new details on the Creta EV’s design, which seems to be different from the upcoming Creta facelift.

  1. Creta EV will not be a born-EV like the eVX
  2. Will share interior bits with Ioniq 5
  3. Will be Hyundai’s first mass-market EV for India

Hyundai Creta EV: design highlights

While the Creta EV had been sighted in India earlier, that particular prototype was based on the pre-facelift Creta and except for mechanical changes, it looked almost identical to the current Creta that is on sale. Latest spy shots of the Creta EV reveal that it will have updated styling, just like the upcoming Creta facelift that is being readied too. In fact, at first glance, the prototype looks like the Creta facelift, but when compared with earlier spy shots, this Creta EV test mule has different front styling, and also has a fake exhaust outlet.

From what is known, the Creta facelift will have a split-headlamp design, similar to the Exter, Venue and the Palisade. For the Creta EV, however, the styling seems to be altered, with not one, but two C-shaped LED DRLs positioned on each side, which also seem to be much bigger than the ones seen on the Creta. Apart from this design bit, not much is visible. However, it will be safe to expect a closed off grille and mildly altered headlamps on the Creta EV.

Apart from the unique front design, not much seems to be different styling-wise on the Creta EV. At the back though, we can expect mild design tweaks to the horizontally positioned wraparound tail lights and rear bumper in order to differentiate it further from the Creta facelift.

On the inside, we expect the Creta EV’s interior to be similar to the upcoming Creta facelift, but there will be some EV-specific changes. The Creta EV prototype that was sighted in India had a full-digital instrument cluster that hasn’t been seen on any other Hyundai model in India. In addition, its gear lever was repositioned from its conventional location on the centre console to the right side of the steering wheel column, similar to the Ioniq 5 EV.
