Hyundai Creta facelift to get Tucson-derived styling cues

A new image of the second-gen Hyundai Creta has surfaced online revealing new details as to the model’s styling. The image suggests that the mid-cycle update will see the Creta embrace styling cues from the new Tucson that debuted globally last year.

  • Facelifted Creta to get styling in line with Hyundai’s latest global SUVs
  • Grille design and low set headlamps reminiscent of the new Tucson
  • Expected to make global debut in 2022

Hyundai Creta facelift: Updated design

While previous spy pics revealed that the body shell of the SUV would remain more-or-less unchanged. However, while previous images wore heavier camouflage to hide the design changes, the image shows that the updated mid-size SUV will borrow design cues from the new Tucson.

The headlamps are now more rectangular and sit lower on the front fascia. The parametric grille design is more apparent in this new picture with the LED DRLs seamlessly blended into the grille design. The bonnet and bumper too are new.

Hyundai Creta facelift: engine details

The second-gen Creta is offered with a line-up of engine across international markets. For the Indian market the Creta is currently available with a pair of 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines alongside a 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine. Both 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines are available with either a manual or automatic gearbox option while the turbo-petrol unit is offered solely with a dual-clutch automatic. These engines are likely to be carried forward.

Hyundai Creta facelift: India launch timeline

The current-gen Creta initially debuted as the ix25 in China in 2019 with the India-spec SUV debuting at the 2020 Auto Expo last February making the SUV a little over a year old for our market. One could expect the facelifted Creta to debut in international markets during the course of 2022 with an India launch likely to occur sometime in the future.
