The Ioniq 6 gets two battery pack options and promises a range of up to 614km.
One of the major highlights at Hyundai’s Auto Expo 2023 pavilion is the showcase of the Ioniq 6 EV sedan. Globally unveiled in June 2022, the Ioniq 6 used the brand’s E-GMP skateboard architecture that also underpins the Ioniq 5 and the Kia EV6.

Hyundai Ioniq 6: design inspired by Prophecy concept
The Ioniq 6 is based on the Prophecy concept and gets multiple long curves and creases along with an aerodynamic silhouette. Hyundai says that the Ioniq 6 has a drag coefficient of just 0.21, which is helped by flush door handles and cameras in place of traditional wing mirrors. At the rear, the Ioniq 6 gets pixel-style LED tail-lights, a ducktail rear spoiler and a curved shoulder line, similar to the Prophecy concept.
Hyundai Ioniq 6: interior details and equipment
On the inside, the Ioniq 6 features a flat central console, also seen on the Ioniq 5 and a minimalist design for the dashboard. What stands out here is the pair of 12-inch screens – one for the instrument cluster and the other for the infotainment system. Compared to the Ioniq 5, the Ioniq 6 gets a more driver-centric positioning. It also has a few more driver-focused touches like the ‘EV Performance tune-up’, which allows the driver to specify multiple drive mode configurations for different situations.
Keeping sustainability in mind, the Ioniq 6’s interior is trimmed in a variety of eco-friendly materials like flax-seed-dyed artificial leather.
Hyundai Ioniq 6: powertrain and range
The Ioniq 6 comes with two battery size options – the entry-level 53kWh and the larger 77kWh (also available on the Ioniq 5). The Ioniq 6 comes with a single-motor RWD set-up as standard, with higher variants getting a dual-motor AWD option as well. The Ioniq 6 with the dual-motor set-up makes 320hp and 605Nm, the same as the Ioniq 5, while the RWD set-up churns out 228hp and 350Nm.
When it comes to the WLTP-certified range, the Ioniq 6 gets up to 429km for the RWD 53kWh version, up to 614km for the 77.4kWh version and up to 583km for the AWD variant.
What else is Hyundai showing at Auto Expo 2023?
In addition to the Ioniq 6 showcase, Hyundai also launched the Ioniq 5 EV crossover. Additionally, Hyundai also has its connected car tech, ADAS tech and future mobility services on display.
