Alcazar 1.5 petrol delivers claimed 18kpl while the 1.5 diesel is good for 17.5kpl, according to Hyundai.
The Hyundai Alcazar petrol has received a change of heart. The SUV now gets the new 1.5-liter turbo petrol engine good for 160hp and 253 NM that replaces the ageing 2.0-liter naturally aspirated petrol that churned out 159hp and 192Nm, making the new engine up on power by 1hp and 61Nm. Bookings for the updated Alcazar are now open and booking amount has been set at Rs 25,000.

Hyundai Alcazar 1.5T: what’s new?
As reported above, Hyundai’s new 160hp 1.5-liter turbo petrol engine will be seen under the hood of the Alcazar SUV. This new engine will also be seen on the all-new Verna that debuts on March 21 and is also expected to be seen on the Creta and even the Kia line-up that includes the Seltos and the Carens. The new 1.5-liter 160hp engine has class leading power not just for the petrol mid-size SUV segment that has models like the Alcazar, Creta and Seltos but also for the mid-size sedan segment that will have the next-gen Verna.
Hyundai says the new 1.5-liter turbo petrol engine is RDE compliant and is also E20 (Ethanol) fuel ready. Gearbox choices will include a six-speed manual and a new 7-speed DCT that replaces the six-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox that was seen on the now discontinued Alcazar 2.0 petrol. The Alcazar 1.5 turbo petrol also gets integrated start-stop tech and according to Hyundai, the SUV delivers a claimed 18kpl for the DCT and 17.5kpl for the manual gearbox option. As far as safety goes, the Alcazar now gets side and curtain airbags standard across all variants, this means the entire Hyundai Alcazar line-up in India gets six airbags as standard.
As far as looks go, the Alcazar now gets a new-look grille and also gets new puddle lamps in higher variants.
No mechanical changes for Alcazar diesel
The Alcazar diesel, that comes with the tried and tested 1.5-liter engine good for 115hp and 250Nm will remain unchanged and will come with a six-speed manual and a six-speed torque convertor automatic option.
Hyundai Alcazar: rivals and pricing
Expect the updated Alcazar to be priced a shade higher than the outgoing version. Hyundai’s three-row SUV sits below the Tucson in its India line-up and rivals the likes of the Hector plus, the Innova Hycross, the Tata Safari and the Mahindra XUV700.
