Husqvarna Svartpilen 801 price, India launch, scrambler

Svartpilen 801 is based on the same platform as the KTM 790 Duke but gets different styling and up-spec suspension.

Husqvarna has teased the Svartpilen 801 ahead of its global reveal on March 19. The Svartpilen 801 is based on the KTM 790 Duke platform and will share most of its underpinnings with its Austrian counterpart, albeit with a few differences.

  1. Powered by the same 105hp, 799cc, parallel-twin mill from the KTM 790 Duke
  2. Has a similar design to the smaller made-in-India Svartpilen

Husqvarna Svartpilen 801 design, features

The Husqvarna Svartpilen 801 is powered by the same 105hp, 799cc, parallel twin engine from the KTM 790 Duke. This engine is coupled with a 6-speed gearbox equipped with a bi-directional quickshifter as standard. While Husqvarna claims the Svartpilen 801 weighs in at 181kg , the company doesn’t specify whether this is dry or kerb weight.

In terms of design, the Svartpilen 801 bears some resemblance to the Svartpilen 401, with a round LED headlamp with an integrated DRL ring and a flyscreen at the front. The Svartpilen 801 prototype seen here also comes with a headlight grille and bash plate and we expect those to carry over to the production-spec bike too.

The bike uses the same tubular chassis as KTM 790 Duke but is suspended by adjustable WP units at both ends. Additionally, the Svartpilen 801 gets a different five-spoke alloy wheel design shod with dual-purpose rubber. The Svartpilen 801 will likely utilize a TFT dash but with a Husqvarna-specific graphic and will get a full suite of electronic rider aids much like its orange sibling.

Currently, there are no large-capacity, multi-cylinder KTM models available in India and there aren’t any plans on the horizon to bring them to our shores either, so it’s highly unlikely that the Svartpilen 801 will join its younger sibling – the Svartpilen 401 – here anytime soon.
