Heading to independence, Daimler truck names finance heads

Daimler Truck announced appointments to two key positions in the finance division.

Claus Baessler will take charge of overall management of the treasury & tax unit on 1 December while Christian Herrmann is taking on additional responsibilities as head of Investor relations/M&A & participation management.

They’ll report to CFO Jochen Goetz who said: “I am delighted to be able to fill these key positions in our finance organisation with two such experienced managers as Baessler and Herrmann. They will provide us with valuable support as we launch the independent Daimler Truck company.”

Baessler has been with the company since 1993 and held various management positions in finance as CFO of Mercedes-Benz Thailand and  head of export credit/finance and head of audit finance & controlling within corporate audit.

From 2017 until the beginning of 2021, he was CFO of Daimler Buses and commercial managing director of EvoBus. Since March 2021, he has headed Project Focus for Daimler Truck, playing a key role in the planned independence.

Herrmann is a financial manager with a wealth of experience in accounting, controlling, and mergers & acquisitions (M&A). After joining DaimlerChrysler in 2003, he held various positions in corporate controlling & accounting and M&A and, since 2016, has been responsible for technology M&A and ventures for Daimler where he was involved in Daimler Truck projects such as the acquisition of Torc and the cellcentric joint venture.
