The Pan America gets no mechanical changes but gains a new colour and some revised electronics.

Harley-Davidson’s template busting ADV bike, the Pan America 1250, has received an update for 2022.

The most obvious of the changes is the handsome new colour scheme called Fastback Blue/White sand. What the eye won’t be able to tell, however, are a couple of changes made to the electronic systems. This includes an updated TFT screen layout that makes reading the displayed information easier. Beyond that, the Hill Hold function has been updated to hold the bike for a few minutes, rather than the existing 10 seconds.

Beyond that, the Pan America remains mechanically unchanged. It uses a liquid-cooled, four-valve, DOHC, 60-degree V-twin with variable valve timing that produces 152hp. It also packs a huge number of electronic rider assists and even comes with semi-active suspension on the higher end Special model. The Pan America’s unique party piece is an optional factory-fitted feature where the electronic suspension lowers itself when the bike comes to a standstill, thereby making it easier for short riders to get their feet down.

The updated Pan America should be launched in India in the next three to four months. It remains to be seen whether Harley will maintain the aggressive pricing with the base model, which currently starts at Rs 16.9 lakh (ex-showroom).
