Citroen C3 1.2T Shine: What all is new?

The C3 1.2 Turbo Feel variant with its potent 110hp three-cylinder engine and six-speed manual gearbox was the erstwhile flagship of the petrol-powered C3 line-up in India. However, the model was criticized for its lack of features, which was also true for the naturally aspirated C3 Feel variant. In our first drive review, we had lauded the car’s performance and handling but had pointed out the striking omissions of many important features.

Last month Citroen India introduced the new top-spec C3 Shine for the less powerful 82hp 1.2-litre NA engine, and now the 1.2-litre turbo petrol equipped C3 also gets the same feature upgrades. This includes electrically adjustable wing mirrors, a rear parking camera, a manually adjustable day/night rear view mirror and front fog lamps. It also gets 15-inch alloy wheels as standard along with a rear wash/wipe and rear defogger.

Priced at Rs 8.80 lakh, the C3 1.2 Turbo Shine is around Rs 1.2 lakh more expensive than the naturally aspirated Shine variant. The C3 now also gets the My Citroen Connect app which has around 35 connectivity features. While Citroen has added quite a few features on the C3 Shine, the entire C3 petrol line-up still lacks a tachometer, push button start/stop, and auto AC.

Citroen C3 1.2T Shine: rivals

The 1.2-liter turbo petrol powered Citroen C3 will rival higher variants of the Tata Punch and Maruti Ignis, although neither models get a turbo-petrol engine option. At this price point, the C3 1.2 turbo also rivals the lower variants of compact SUVs like the Renault Kiger and the Nissan Magnite. In the coming months, this category will also see another contender in the form of the Hyundai Exter, read more on that here.
